Ophthalmology

Our ophthalmology service is available across both of our sites and covers:

Advanced diagnostics

Including electroretinography, ultrasound, and gonioscopy.

Surgical conditions

Including corneal ulceration, sequestrum & foreign bodies, distichia, ectopic cilia, dry eye (when not medically manageable) and cataract surgery. We also undertake complex eyelid surgery.

Medical conditions

Including dry eye, uveitis, corneal ulcers, and glaucoma.

Canine eye health screening

Covering BVA, KC and ISDS screening.

Early referral is encouraged, especially in cases of lens luxation, glaucoma, cataract, and corneal ulceration.

Including lameness investigation, PRP therapy, TPLO, lateral suture, TTA, pancarpal / tarsal arthrodesis, long bone fractures and pelvic fractures, some complex fractures (contact our team to discuss).

Soft tissue

Including BOAS surgery, splenectomy, enterotomy, liver lobectomy, enterectomy, liver biopsies, pyometra, wound reconstruction, PEG and oesophagostomy feeding tube placement and some thoracic surgeries (contact our team to discuss).

Our surgical team offer referral laparoscopic surgery, so that your patients can benefit from:

Laparoscopic surgeries carried out by the team include ovariectomy (contact us if <5kg), cyptorchid castration >5kg, removal of ovarian remnants, pericardectomy, biopsies of liver, pancreas and abdominal lymph nodes, laparoscopic assisted gastropexy and GI biopsies.

Internal medicine

We diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of medical conditions, such as:

Endocrine conditions

Including hypo- & hyperadrenocorticism, diabetes mellitus & insipidus, hyperaldosteronism and pheochromocytoma.

Liver disease

Including jaundice, elevated enzymes, suspected portosystemic shunts, biliary disorders and hepatic lipidosis.

Infectious diseases

Including parvovirus, leptospirosis and bacterial cholangitis.

Respiratory disorders

Including investigations of chronic cough, pneumonia, tachypnoea, dyspnoea, pleural effusions, sneezing, nasal discharge, Aspergillosis and epistaxis.

Gastrointestinal conditions

Including chronic diarrhoea, vomiting, regurgitation, weight loss, suspected malabsorption, and perianal fistulas

Pancreatic disease

Acute and chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic insufficiency

Haematological & immune-mediated disease

Including immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia, clotting disorders thrombocytopenia, non-regenerative anaemia, immune-mediated polyarthritis.

Renal & urinary disorders

Including dysuria, urinary incontinence, urinary obstruction, urolithiasis, haematuria and recurring UTIs.

Urgent & critical cases

Our excellent hospital facilities include ICU for our more critical patients and is supported by an experienced nursing team.

Our team encompasses certificate holders with state-of the-art facilities at their finger-tips. In addition to radiography, we offer:

Outpatient CT

Available at our Storrington hospital. All scans are examined by both our team and Specialists from VetCT. You receive a detailed report including annotated images, a description of abnormalities, suggestions for further investigations and a list of differential diagnoses.

Ultrasound

Diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures such as fine needle aspirates, tru-cut biopsies, removal of foreign material, such as migrating grass seeds.

 

Clients should be made aware that we are unable to give detailed advice to outpatients at discharge as tests will not have been fully interpreted yet.

Rehabilitation

Our rehabilitation service is available across both of our sites and covers:

Physiotherapy

Including pre- and post-operative rehab, OA management and other orthopaedic complaints, degenerative conditions, acute & chronic soft tissue injuries, spinal conditions and athletic conditioning.

Hydrotherapy

Available at our Storrington hospital. Hydrotherapy reduces weight bearing and builds strength. Ideal for conditions such as hip & elbow dysplasia, cruciate disease, OA, performance enhancement, fitness and weight loss.

Bespoke programmes

Our team offers full physical assessments, multi-modal treatment, exercise prescription, advice on lifestyle, and can assist with the design of conditioning programmes for working dog or canine athletes.


Our rehabilitation team work in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act,
so treatment is only undertaken following veterinary referral.
